Hello my name is Mary Horan and I would like to thank you for taking the time to find out more about me and my art.
I am married to Kevin and have three wonderful children. I ran a Montessori school for a number of years where I found I could engage in many creative activities with the pupils. I have always loved art and I come from a very artistic family. In the past I have held exhibitions in my home. I enjoyed it so much that I am now a full time artist.
I have been steeped in art and poetry from an early age and in latter times I have developed my painting skills through observation and experimentation. I am self taught which allows me to go beyond any defined boundaries or expectations. Initially I worked with acrylics but now I find I am really at home using oils. The sea has had a huge influence on me as I was reared next to it in Salthill, Galway. It makes my heart beat and has been a great consolation to me throughout my lifetime. It represents all my moods which are continuously reflected in my work.
